Contains photographs of the following military organizations: United States (U.S.) Army Medical Corps, Walter Reed Army Medical Center. General description of the collection: The Leonard D. Heaton photograph collection contains a photo dealing with Heaton's early service in which he appears with a group at Gettysburg Battlefield in 1926. Most of this collection deals with his assignments when a major general and a lieutenant general and surgeon general of the Army. There are many photos of promotions, both Heaton's and numerous of those he presided over. There are numerous photos of Heaton visiting various hospitals during WWII and the Korean War as well as the post Korean War era. There are photos of change of command ceremonies, receptions, conferences, tours both military and with his family and much on the activities of Walter Reed Army Medical Center. There are quite a few photos of Heaton with his friend, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and with Richard M. Nixon. And, finally, there are numerous family photos.
